Voice, Beginner Mandolin
I started playing guitar when I was six years old, and in my teens I started singing and writing music on my own. I now work and perform as an artist and songwriter, and have worked with musicians, songwriters, and producers in Nashville and Norway.
I have lots of experience playing in bands and other music groups, which is a very important part of being a musician: the ability to listen and play with others.
My main focus for guitar playing is developing steady rhythm guitar skills as well as a good understanding of chords and chord progressions, which is a great tool for any musician, guitarist, and songwriter.
I worked as a substitute teacher for about a year and taught kids from ages six to sixteen. I was responsible for music classes as well as other subjects, taught guitar to special needs children, and held songwriting sessions.
I think it is important for children learning music to be able to play songs that they themselves enjoy and listen to, and I would make an effort to keep lessons interesting and relevant.

Donna J. Bonawitz
Having grown up in a very musical family, I have loved playing the piano my whole life. I am in a group called Heart Strings with my niece Melissa and my sister Polly. I recently moved back to Willmar from Arizona and decided to start teaching piano lessons.
For 31 years I taught elementary music in the New London-Spicer school district. I graduated 1979 from St. Cloud State University with a music education degree and an emphasis in piano. I have taught private piano, been accompanist for musicals, vocalists and instrumentalists, as well as many years as a church musician. Playing piano is such a great way to understand and emjoy music and is a wonderful foundation to any music experience. Beginners to advanced students are welcome!

I use modified Suzuki method for string instruments that incorporates learning note reading from beginning. I try to sense what learning style allows each student to accomplish the highest musical ability they are able.
