6. All points of friction in the key mechanism should be oiled every month or so with Selmer Key Oil. Use sparingly, as too much oil collects dust and dirt. After oiling, work the key and wipe off excess oil. Oil the keys held by long screws by baking out the screws about half their length. After the oil seeps into the key hinges retighten the screws. |
2. Use a saxophone swab to clean the inside of the body, bow, and bell. |
3. Use a saxophone mouthpipe brush to clean the inside of the mouthpipe. Clean octave key hole in mouthpipe with pipe cleaner or feather. |
4. Keep mouthpiece clean and sanitary by washing in lukewarm water and castile soap. Wipe dry with soft cloth. Never use hot water on a hard rubber mouthpiece. |
5. Put Selmer Cork Grease on the mouthpipe cork. |
7. Use a small camel’s hair brush to remove dust and lint that gathers around the posts and springs and under key rods. 8. Keep your saxophone looking like new with Selmer Cream Lacquer Polish—prepared especially for lacquer finishes. Or use the silicone treated Selmer Polishing Cloth without any other cleaning agent. |

Care of Saxophones 1. After playing, remove water from the bow of the saxophone by tipping the instrument upside down so that the water runs out the bell. (Tilt so that water does not wet pads of the bell keys.) |
